Features: For ease of learning, we have appropriately added tonality and a small number of chord function markings in the pieces. The meanings of these markings can be found in the explanation in [Appendix I]. For those that are difficult to explain solely through markings, we provide a brief introduction to the key points of classical harmony theory and the main characteristics of the harmonic language of the works in the appendices [Brief Overview of Major/Minor Functional Harmony Thinking] and [Brief Overview of the Harmonic Language and Methods of the Pieces in This Book]. The entire book is divided into two volumes. The first volume mainly selects representative classical pieces within the traditional harmony range, arranged roughly in the order of harmony teaching, such as positive and negative third chords, various altered chords, modulations, and so on. The second volume selects popular pieces as well as a small number of works with characteristics of 20th-century harmonic language. As musicologists have long pointed out: popular music is essentially a repetition of the musical vocabulary already used by classical composers. Even so, readers can still learn how modern popular music actually applies classical harmony from this.
