Publish Date: 2002-10-18
Features: This book was first compiled in 1995, based on the teaching content of the "Selected Readings on Famous Works of Chinese Economic Thought" course for graduate students of Chinese Economic Thought at Peking University at that time. In addition to the chief editor, other contributors included Chang Zhuochao, Chen Weimin, Chen Xizhong, Zhang Shoujun, Hu Chunli, and others. The book selects ninety articles, covering the period from the 6th century BC to the end of the 18th century. The selection criteria are: in terms of economic thought, representative and high-quality works from each period; in terms of language, fluent and engaging, capable of clearly and distinctly expressing the author's economic views, making it captivating to read. All selected articles are annotated, and an "Economic Thought Review" is provided, along with brief biographies of each author, to help readers grasp the meaning of the texts and understand the main economic ideas of each article and their historical context. All these editing processes are designed to be concise and to the point; especially the "Economic Thought Review," which generally offers only suggestive introductions, leaving room for readers to explore and reflect on their own.
