Features: Based on the inheritance of previous work, this book focuses on three aspects: the reconstruction of the textbook framework, the renewal of teaching content, and the emphasis on practical application to better integrate theory with practice, striving to align with international standards while maintaining and promoting its unique features. The book is divided into five parts and eighteen chapters across three volumes. The first volume includes the "Equilibrium" section, covering the pVT relations and thermal properties of substances, the laws of thermodynamics and basic thermodynamic equations, thermodynamics of multicomponent systems, fugacity and activity, and phase equilibrium, totaling five chapters. The "Rate" section includes three chapters on transport phenomena, chemical kinetics, and the kinetics of various reactions. The second volume is the "Structure" section, comprising three chapters on the fundamentals of quantum mechanics, theories of chemical bonding and intermolecular forces, and the basic principles of spectroscopy. The third volume includes the "Statistics" section, covering three chapters on statistical thermodynamics of independent subsystems, statistical thermodynamics of dependent subsystems, and rate theory. The "Extension" section includes four chapters on interfacial phenomena, electrolyte solutions, electrochemistry, and colloids. This book can serve as a textbook for chemistry, chemical engineering, and related disciplines in higher education institutions, as well as a reference for researchers and engineers in relevant fields.
Preface: With the turn of the century, China is experiencing rejuvenation, national prosperity, and the advancement of all industries. The Ministry of Education is implementing the "Teaching Content and Curriculum System Reform Plan for Higher Education in the 21st Century." To support this initiative, the Physical Chemistry Teaching and Research Office of East China University of Science and Technology organized the writing of the fourth edition of Physical Chemistry.
