Features: This book is a national-level planning textbook for the 15th Five-Year Plan in general higher education, as well as a premium project research achievement under the Higher Education 100 Excellent Course Construction Plan. It is revised based on the second edition of Fundamentals of Organic Chemistry, published in 1993. Compared to the second edition, there are significant changes in content and chapters. The book is divided into two parts: Basic and Special Chapters. In terms of structure, it adopts a combined arrangement of chapters organized by functional groups, chapters organized by basic reaction mechanisms, and special chapters. In terms of content, naming, the four major spectroscopies will be separately set as chapters, stereochemistry will include both conformation and configuration, aliphatic nucleophilic substitution and β-elimination reactions will be combined into one chapter, and aldol condensation and esterification will be combined into one chapter. This is done to further emphasize the completeness and coherence of knowledge, to more reasonably address the relationship between individual and general aspects, and to pay more attention to the connections between different knowledge points. The special chapters will introduce new achievements in the development of organic chemistry and related disciplines. At the end of each chapter, there are guiding outlines for the chapter and bilingual (Chinese-English) glossaries. This book can be used as a textbook for chemistry majors in comprehensive universities, and is also suitable for students in other institutions of higher learning, as well as readers interested in organic chemistry.
