Modern Chinese (Revised Edition Vol. 2)

Author: Huang Bohong, Liao Xudong (editors)
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2002-11-05
Features: This book is the revised third edition of the original "Lanzhou Edition" of Modern Chinese. The "Revised Edition" published in January 1991 made substantial revisions to the original "Lanzhou Edition," adding sections such as the decomposition of word meanings, semantic fields, context and word meaning, phrases, sentence groups, and stylistic features. The "Second Revised Edition" published in July 1997 maintained the same overall framework, still divided into two volumes, with six chapters: Introduction, Phonetics, Writing, Vocabulary, Grammar, and Rhetoric. Only some content was adjusted, and new research findings were incorporated, such as adding pronunciation exercises to the Phonetics chapter and semantic, pragmatic, and transformational analyses to the Grammar chapter. This "Third Revised Edition" also adjusts the content of some chapters and remains published in two volumes. To facilitate teaching and learning, especially for self-study by "self-examination" students, the book's editors have additionally compiled Teaching Instructions and Self-Study References and audio recordings of "Mandarin and International Phonetic Alphabet," which are distributed alongside the book.
