Publication Date: 2000-07-01
Features: This book is a research outcome of the Ministry of Education's "Reform Plan for Teaching Content and Curriculum Systems in Higher Education Towards the 21st Century," serving as a curriculum textbook for the 21st century and a core textbook for economics and business administration majors. It was developed based on the previous edition, incorporating the authors' extensive teaching experience and textbook writing expertise, as well as the achievements of outstanding statistics textbooks from around the world. The content system of the previous edition has been revised and improved, with most exercises and data updated. Additionally, many vivid and engaging case studies have been added to highlight the practical aspects of applied statistics. Meanwhile, mathematical derivations and proofs have been removed, making it accessible to readers with only a basic understanding of elementary mathematics. The writing style is closely integrated with computer applications, providing Excel calculations and results for most statistical methods. The content covers descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, and commonly used statistical methods in business administration. The specific content of the book includes: Introduction, Descriptive Statistics of Data, Probability and Probability Distributions, Sampling and Sampling Distributions, Parameter Estimation, Hypothesis Testing, Analysis of Variance and Experimental Design, Correlation and Regression Analysis, Time Series Analysis, Statistical Indices, Statistical Decision Making, and Basic Knowledge of National Economic Statistics. Furthermore, we have especially created a teaching support website for instructors and developed teaching materials (see "Teaching Support Notes" at the back of the book) to facilitate teaching and self-study. This book can be used as a textbook for undergraduate and associate-degree students in economics and business administration at higher education institutions, as well as a reference for humanities, social sciences, and other disciplines.
