Features: "Matrix Theory" is a fundamental mathematics course for postgraduate students in engineering at universities and colleges. Its theories and methods have extensive applications in various fields of science and engineering, making it a necessary mathematical tool for scientific and technological workers. Due to limited teaching hours, undergraduate "Linear Algebra" courses can only focus on introducing the basic knowledge of algebraic matrices, with less emphasis on abstract thinking and reasoning methods. In line with the training objectives for engineering postgraduates, it is required that they not only master the mathematical methods related to matrices needed in engineering but also strengthen their training in abstract thinking and rigorous logical reasoning, as well as the application of fundamental theories and improvement of algebraic proficiency. The "Matrix Theory" course is characterized by numerous concepts, strong theoretical depth, abstract content, unique and flexible problem-solving approaches, and strong technical skills, which indeed pose certain difficulties for many postgraduate students. To address this, the author, based on years of teaching experience in "Linear Algebra" and "Matrix Theory," has collected and selected a large number of typical examples and examination questions related to the main teaching content over the years, categorizing and providing detailed explanations. Through these representative examples, students can strengthen their understanding and comprehension of concepts and theorems, guide them to clarify problem-solving approaches, master key operational methods and problem-solving techniques, improve their reasoning and computational abilities, and enhance their exam-taking skills. This book is compiled based on the main content of the "Matrix Theory" course for engineering postgraduates at our university and the teaching materials used by most universities and colleges in China for postgraduate "Matrix Theory" courses. It serves as a supplementary book suitable for 40-50 teaching hours and also as a reference book for preparing for doctoral examinations. During the teaching of "Matrix Theory" and the compilation of this book, the author has received enthusiastic support, assistance, and guidance from Professor Yu Exi and Professor Yu Yin of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The author expresses heartfelt gratitude to them. Due to the author's limitations, there may inevitably be errors or inappropriate places in the writing. The author sincerely invites readers to point out any mistakes or suggestions for improvement.
