Features: Professor Shan Huizhu of Beihang University edited "Mechanics of Materials (I)" and "Mechanics of Materials (II)," while Professor Xie Chuanfeng edited "Statics," "Dynamics (I)," and "Dynamics (II)." These are the research outcomes of the Ministry of Education's "21st Century Teaching Content and Curriculum System Reform Plan" and are part of the 21st Century Curriculum Textbooks and the Ministry of Education's "Nineth Five-Year Plan" for Engineering Mechanics textbooks. Among them, "Statics," "Mechanics of Materials (I)," and "Mechanics of Materials (II)" are also part of the National Key Textbooks for General Higher Education under the "Nineth Five-Year Plan." "Statics" includes geometric statics and analytical statics; "Dynamics (I)" covers the fundamental parts of kinematics and dynamics from classical mechanics; "Dynamics (II)" includes specialized topics from classical mechanics, as well as the basics of engineering vibration and fluid mechanics; "Mechanics of Materials (I)" covers the fundamental parts of mechanics of materials, involving the basic and combined forms of beam deformation, including issues of strength, stiffness, and stability; "Mechanics of Materials (II)" includes advanced and extended topics in mechanics of materials. This textbook has actively explored the inheritance of traditional content, the introduction of modern scientific and technological achievements, and the transmission of knowledge while cultivating abilities and qualities. It is a new textbook for the 21st century, featuring new content, a new system, rigorous discussions, a focus on fundamentals and engineering applications (including computer applications), and an emphasis on ability development. The textbook exhibits a modular design, allowing the selection and combination of modules to meet the teaching requirements of different levels and disciplines in engineering colleges. This book, "Mechanics of Materials (II)," includes eight chapters: unsymmetric bending and special beams, the principles and applications of energy methods, analysis of statically indeterminate problems, computer methods for analyzing rods and rod systems, experimental methods for stress analysis, fatigue and fracture, and strength calculations considering material plastic deformation. Each chapter is accompanied by review questions and exercises, and some chapters also include assignments that require the use of computers for solutions. This book can serve as a textbook for undergraduate engineering programs at different levels of higher education, as well as a reference for faculty and students in engineering colleges, vocational universities, and adult education institutions, as well as relevant engineering professionals.
