Features: This textbook is written according to the "Training Program for Chemical Engineering and Technology Major in the 21st Century" issued in April 1998. It aims to cultivate chemical engineering professionals with a solid foundation, broad expertise, strong capabilities, high quality, and innovative spirit. It emphasizes practical training, significantly reduces teaching hours, and advocates modern teaching methods and instructional reform. The main theme of the book is the macroscopic reaction process derived from the generalization and synthesis of the interaction between chemical reaction and mass and heat transfer. The textbook emphasizes engineering thinking, promotes the integration of theory and practice, and trains students in quantitative calculations and design skills. It also focuses on developing students' abilities to analyze and solve problems, as well as fostering their innovative spirit. The textbook is divided into twelve chapters, covering the following topics: intrinsic kinetics of gas-solid phase catalytic reactions, macrokinetics of gas-solid phase catalytic reactions, ideal flow reactors, mixing in reactors and its effects on reactions, gas-solid phase catalytic reaction engineering, gas-liquid reactions and reactors, gas-liquid-solid three-phase reaction engineering, fluid-solid non-catalytic reactions, polymer reaction engineering, bioreaction engineering, electrochemical reaction engineering, and laboratory reactors. The first eight chapters are oriented toward industrial production in chemical engineering, petroleum refining, basic organic chemical industry, inorganic chemical industry, fine chemical industry, industrial catalysis, and chemical metallurgy, discussing the universal principles of macroscopic reaction processes in industrial production. The subsequent chapters (9–11) focus on industrial production in polymer chemistry, biotechnology, and electrochemical industries, addressing how to apply the general principles of chemical reaction engineering to solve reaction engineering problems in specific process contexts. The final chapter elaborates on how to establish various types of laboratory reactors and the basic principles of experimental design and data processing according to the requirements of chemical reaction engineering, guiding readers in their graduation thesis research. The book is accompanied by a multimedia CD-ROM and a set of solved problems and exercises. It can serve as a textbook for chemical engineering and technology, petroleum chemistry, petroleum refining, and related majors in higher education institutions, as well as a reference for postgraduate students in these fields.
