What are the treatments for orchitis?

Patient's question:

A few days ago, I kept feeling uncomfortable downstairs, with severe pain in my testicles. My scrotum, groin, and inguinal area would also occasionally ache for a short while. I went to the urology department and the doctor said it was orchitis. They gave me two bottles of IV fluids and prescribed medication. But when I came down today, I still felt uncomfortable. I don’t know what the treatment options are. What are the treatments for orchitis?

Doctor's answer:

In general, patients with acute orchitis should rest in bed and lift or raise the scrotum. Local cold compresses can alleviate testicular pain. For severe pain, oral analgesics can be administered. Alternatively, 10ml of 1% procaine or 20ml of 1% lidocaine can be used for isolation of the affected spermatic cord. In chronic orchitis and the early stages of acute orchitis, scrotal heat application or a hot bath can be performed. Patients with systemic symptoms should receive symptomatic treatment. Treatment should be considered based on examination results, and appropriate diet and abstinence from sexual activity should be maintained.
