What are the clinical manifestations of balanoposthitis?

Patient's question:

My husband said his glans has been itchy recently, and at the same time, he feels like there are needles pricking his foreskin, which is very painful. Due to his pride, he doesn't want to go to the hospital to see a doctor, so he just bought some random ointment to wash with. After several days, there's no sign of improvement, and he's quite frustrated. What are the clinical manifestations of balanitis and phimosis?

Doctor's answer:

I. Acute superficial balanoposthitis, in the early stage of the disease, presents with local erythema in the patient. Additionally, the skin of the penis may show redness and swelling, and the glans may often feel burning and itchy. If the foreskin is retracted, there may be congestion and purulent discharge on the inner surface of the foreskin and the glans, with possible leakage or even broken skin.
II. Circumferential purulent balanoposthitis often presents with erythema on the glans and foreskin of the patient. As the disease subsides, the erythema gradually expands, ultimately forming a ring shape, which may then develop into superficial ulcers.
