Is trichomoniasis of the prepuce and glans curable?

Patient's question:

I feel swollen, and my glans is red. I also noticed red spots and pinpoint-sized blisters. I know nothing about this condition and am hoping for help. I usually clean daily, but my classmates say I have a smell. Is trichomoniasis of the prepuce and glans easy to treat?

Doctor's answer:

Balanoposthitis often presents as redness and swelling of the foreskin, burning pain, worsening during urination, and may have purulent secretions flowing from the meatus. Balanoposthitis is usually treated both internally and externally. For the treatment of acute superficial balanoposthitis and annular purulent balanoposthitis, erythromycin and sulfonamides are the first-line medications, typically taken at 0.5g per dose, four times daily. For trichomoniasis-induced balanoposthitis, metronidazole is the first-line treatment, taken at 0.2g per dose, three times daily, alternating for 10 days. For candidal balanoposthitis caused by Candida, it is commonly treated with griseofulvin or itraconazole.
