Features: The "MPA English Listening and Speaking Course" (Student Book) is a listening and speaking textbook written according to the teaching syllabus of applied English in the School of Public Administration at Renmin University of China. It is suitable for the English listening and speaking courses for non-English major master's students in MPA and other disciplines in classroom teaching. The purpose of this textbook is to cultivate students' abilities and skills in conversing, speaking, and discussing issues in English in international communication, while also improving their English listening skills. The "MPA English Listening and Speaking Course" (Student Book) is divided into twelve units, with each unit consisting of five parts: Preparatory Exercises—Listening Training—Key Comprehension—Targeted Practice—Oral Practice. Each unit's content is carefully designed to suit both government public administrators and corporate public administrators.
In response to the characteristics of MPA students' part-time study, to help students consolidate and digest classroom listening and speaking content during their spare time and strengthen listening training, the authors have specially prepared twelve units of supplementary listening exercises to accompany the classroom material, attached at the back of the book. The exercises come in various formats, including multiple-choice, true-or-false judgment, sentence and phrase completion, chart completion, matching, and question answering. To facilitate self-study for students and lesson preparation for teachers, a companion "MPA English Listening and Speaking Course" (Teaching Reference Book) has also been compiled. This book includes the original texts of all listening materials in the Student Book as well as the answers to the exercises.
