Features: This book is an excellent English textbook and reference book. Compared to similar textbooks for undergraduate students in China, this book has the following characteristics:
(1) A completely new system structure. Currently, the teaching system in related fields in China involves studying theoretical physics (including statistical physics, quantum mechanics, etc.) and solid-state physics first, followed by semiconductor physics, and finally semiconductor devices, which generally requires 2 to 3 semesters to complete these courses. This book organically integrates the content of the aforementioned courses, and students only need a foundation in advanced mathematics and college physics to systematically learn the content provided by the semiconductor physics and devices course in 1 to 2 semesters.
(2) Emphasis on concepts and methods. From the overall arrangement of the content to the specific narration, it reflects the guiding principle of highlighting physical concepts and emphasizing basic analytical methods. The book also uses numerous illustrations to help readers understand the concepts.
(3) Strong readability and ease of self-study. The book has a clear structure, logical explanations, and is easy for readers to understand and master. Each chapter begins with an introduction that tells readers what they can learn and should master in the chapter; each chapter includes examples and self-assessment questions for readers; and each chapter ends with a summary, review outline, and a large number of exercises (some of which are computer simulation exercises).
(4) Rich content and broad coverage. In addition to introducing semiconductor physics, the book also provides a wealth of information on devices. Beyond the basic and commonly used BJT and MOSFET devices, it also provides detailed introductions to semiconductor optoelectronic devices and power devices. It not only discusses the basic principles of devices but also introduces their development. The references at the end of each chapter allow readers to delve deeper into the details they need.
