What is balanitis?

Patient's question:

Doctor, I had surgery for balanoposthitis, and today is the 5th day after the operation. The recovery is going quite well so far. I am getting IV fluids and changing the dressing every day. However, there is a little bit of a suture thread at the incision that might have torn during an erection. What kind of disease is balanoposthitis?

Doctor's answer:

Always maintain local cleanliness to prevent irritation. Local treatment is important; for dry and scaly conditions, apply corticosteroid ointment. For disordered exudative conditions, use potassium permanganate solution or Rivanol-phenol solution for wet dressing. Change dressings on ulcerated areas daily and perform physical therapy. For cases with obvious infection accompanied by fever and lymph node enlargement, systemic antibiotics can be used. For cases with clear etiology, special measures should be taken targeting sepsis factors. For patients with balanitis, timely treatment can reduce recurrence. If not treated promptly, it may affect overall health.
