Features: This book extracts, enriches, and updates the fundamental content of three main courses for the original mechanical manufacturing major (Metal Cutting Principles and Tools, Metal Cutting Machine Tools, and Mechanical Manufacturing Technology). It was internally compiled in 1996 as the textbook "Fundamentals of Mechanical Manufacturing Technology." The textbook is designed for 54 hours of instruction and was piloted for three sessions with positive results, basically meeting the new teaching requirements. However, some shortcomings were also identified. To address the issues discovered in teaching, we extensively revised the original internal textbook, resulting in this officially published "Fundamentals of Mechanical Manufacturing Technology." The content of this book focuses on the basic knowledge, principles, and methods of mechanical manufacturing. It includes the physical phenomena and laws of the metal cutting process, the functions, performance, and commonly used processing equipment of cutting tools, as well as knowledge related to processing quality, process equipment, and process procedures. Additionally, a separate chapter is dedicated to the foundational content of modern manufacturing technology—numerical control machining and its programming. The content of this book is essential for technicians engaged in mechanical design, mechanical processing, processing control, and related engineering management.
