Publish Date: 2006-06-01
Features: This book focuses on the Charpy notch impact test, providing a detailed explanation of the background of the national standards used. It discusses the factors affecting the accuracy of impact test results from the perspectives of test theory and extensive experimental data, and combines years of practical testing experience to comprehensively and thoroughly elaborate on various aspects such as test principles, characteristics of test parameters, sample cutting and preparation, analysis of sample shape and dimensions, requirements for impact testing machines, temperature control, selection of test conditions, test operation procedures and key points, testing technology for ductile-brittle transition temperature, fracture characteristic evaluation, requirements for instrumented components, and data processing. Additionally, it translates and organizes representative ISO standards and American ASTM standards as important technical materials for foreign testing technologies, making it particularly suitable for laboratory technicians and test personnel. The Charpy impact test method is one of the important means for detecting the mechanical properties of metallurgical products and is widely used to evaluate the ductile-brittle characteristics of metal materials under impact loading. Due to the test being conducted under dynamic force, there are numerous factors affecting impact toughness. The standardization of this test method is aimed at addressing the characteristics of the test by limiting various influencing factors, thereby obtaining accurate, reliable, and comparable test results. In recent years, this test method standard has merged the four standards—Charpy V-notch impact test, Charpy U-notch impact test, high-temperature Charpy notch impact test, and low-temperature Charpy notch impact test—into a single standard. Additionally, a new standard, GB/T 19748-2005 "Instrumented Test Method for Charpy V-notch Impact Test of Steel," has been newly formulated. This provides reliable assurance for the quality assurance of metal materials, the development of new materials and processes, as well as the safety of equipment and components in industries such as metallurgy, machinery, shipping, and defense. To improve the technical level of metal mechanical testing and measurement in China and to correctly implement national standards, as well as to understand the current status and development of international impact testing technologies, following the publication of "Implementation Guide for National Standard of Metal Tensile Test Method" and "Implementation Guide for National Standard of Metal Hardness Test Method" in cooperation with the China Standard Press, this book "Implementation Guide for National Standard of Metal Charpy Notch Impact Test Method" has been specially compiled based on the requirements of laboratory technicians and test personnel from various departments in China. The book's features are based on GB/T 229-1994 "Metal Charpy Notch Impact Test Method," combining classic test technologies from international standards to comprehensively and systematically elaborate and explain relevant technical content in the Charpy notch impact test of metal materials.
