General Theory of Punishment

Author: Ma Kechang
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2002-07-02
Features: This book was published as a graduate textbook with funding from the university's graduate school. Later, it was discussed and included in the academic series by the university's academic series editorial committee, intended to become a sister volume to the previously published General Theory of Crime. In terms of structure, apart from the introduction, it is divided into four parts: Types of Punishment, Punishment Appraisal, Punishment Execution, and Punishment Abolition. An appendix is also included to discuss non-criminal measures. In terms of data utilization and the handling of academic viewpoints, the approach is largely the same as that used in writing General Theory of Crime, in order to reflect the concept of the two books becoming sister volumes. However, criminal punishment theory is not as diverse in doctrines or profound in theory as criminal theory, so while the book does focus on in-depth theoretical exploration, it is comparatively more practical in nature.
