What to eat after hernia pneumatic surgery

Patient's question:

Recently, my son noticed a lump in his groin. He experienced mild pain during urination, which disappeared when he lay flat. The hospital diagnosed it as a hernia and he was admitted for treatment and surgery. It's been a week since the operation. What should I eat after a hernia surgery?

Doctor's answer:

If the patient has already been discharged after suture removal, this condition allows for a return to normal diet. However, personally, I would still recommend that the child drink plenty of water and eat more fruits and vegetables. It is not advisable to consume greasy, spicy, or irritating foods that can cause stomach upset. Especially if the child has a habit of constipation, it may also trigger the onset of hernia. This condition often recurs due to prolonged increased intra-abdominal pressure, leading to intestinal wall protrusion as a clinical manifestation.
