In the 21st century, China's higher education has ushered in unprecedented opportunities and challenges. The arrival of the knowledge economy, China's entry into the WTO, the strategic decisions of "rejuvenating the country through science and education" and "governing the country according to law," as well as the implementation of the Western Development Strategy, have placed new and higher demands on the development of higher education and the quality of talent cultivation. Since 2000, our institution has achieved significant results in comprehensively promoting quality-oriented education, further deepening teaching reform, improving the quality of education and teaching, and strengthening basic teaching construction. The further transformation of educational philosophy and concepts, the issuance of the implementation measures for comprehensively promoting quality-oriented education, the adjustment of professional structures, the comprehensive revision of teaching plans, and the launch of the new round of curriculum development efforts have all laid a solid foundation for further improving the educational and teaching quality and overall level of our institution.
As an important carrier reflecting educational philosophy, educational concepts, and the achievements of teaching reform, textbooks are the focus of our institution's new round of curriculum development. To meet the requirements of cultivating talents with solid foundations, broad knowledge, strong practical abilities, international competitiveness, and innovative spirit, the university has decided to have the Textbook Committee compile, review, and plan the publication of a high-quality series of textbooks that can integrate the characteristics of the times and reflect the latest achievements in teaching and research. This series of textbooks will be written by teachers with long teaching experience and titles such as professor and associate professor. All textbooks approved for publication are core and directional courses for various majors, totaling 23 volumes. With the strong support of the China University of Political Science and Law Press, the first batch of textbooks will be published in the near future; the textbooks for the remaining courses will also be reviewed and approved by the Textbook Compilation and Review Committee and published in batches thereafter. We strive to ensure that the textbooks are highly scientific, systematic, innovative, and adaptable, and we hope that this series of textbooks will make positive contributions to further improving the educational and teaching quality of the university.
