Features: Professor Jiang Ping was born in Dalian in 1930 and is of Ningbo origin. During his early years at Peking University, he participated in student movements. In 1951, he studied law at Moscow State University and returned to teach at Beijing Law College in 1956. Like many genuine intellectuals, Professor Jiang Ping experienced hardships and tribulations during the subsequent political movements. In the 1980s, Professor Jiang Ping returned to the legal lecture hall and has been dedicated to teaching ever since. With over four decades of teaching experience, Professor Jiang Ping has nurtured generations of students with his profound and insightful thoughts and his magnanimous and benevolent character. He has influenced the entire field of Chinese law, as well as China's legislative and judicial practices. He is an outstanding legal thinker, educator, and social activist. To celebrate Professor Jiang Ping's 70th birthday, the Law and Politics Civil and Commercial Law Teaching and Research Office of China University of Political Science and Law has specially compiled the collection of essays "Discussions on Civil and Commercial Law."
