Features: International crime and responsibility are one of the main contents of international criminal law, a new branch of international law. Traditionally, issues of crime and criminal responsibility did not fall within the scope of international law. Although piracy and the slave trade were already considered crimes under international law in the 19th century, international criminal law only truly became a branch of international law after World War II. Since the 1990s, new developments have emerged in the system of international crime and responsibility. This book is based on the author's doctoral dissertation "On International Crime and Its Responsibility." Additionally, due to differing views among scholars regarding the nature and sources of international criminal law, which encompasses the system of international crime and responsibility, this book includes two chapters—"The Nature of International Criminal Law" and "The Sources of International Criminal Law"—dedicated to elaborating on these two issues. Based on the understanding that international criminal law is a new branch that has emerged in the development of international law, the author has strived to study issues related to international crime and responsibility from the perspective of international law and has offered their own insights for the readers' consideration.
