Features: This book is co-authored by Ruan Fangmin (Professor at the Law School of Zhejiang University, Ph.D. in Law) and Wang Xiao (Lecturer at the Law Department of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University). It is the final outcome of the project "Countermeasures for Punishing and Preventing Organized Crime of Triad Nature" funded by the Fang Keqiang Grant Program of Zhejiang University in 2002 (Project No.: 2031101-581105). The book is divided into two parts. The first part, "Theories of Prevention and Control of Organized Crime," employs multidisciplinary knowledge from philosophy, sociology, psychology, biology, economics, and criminology to explore the causes and prevention of organized crime, with a particular focus on the causes and prevention of organized crime in China. The second part, "Theories of Punishing Organized Crime," examines how legislation and judicial practice can accurately punish organized crime of triad nature using legal theories, especially by connecting with the recently enacted "United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime" to discuss the improvement and refinement of China's legal norms for punishing organized crime of triad nature. The book proposes numerous innovative viewpoints and suggestions in various aspects, including the analysis of the causes of organized crime, the construction of prevention strategies, the boundaries of judicial punishment for organized crime of triad nature under China's current legal norms, and the legislative improvements for China as a state party to the "United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime" to fulfill its international legal obligations. These viewpoints and suggestions hold significant reference value for the legislation and judicial practice of preventing and punishing organized crime of triad nature in China. To facilitate readers in accessing the legal norms discussed in the book regarding the prevention and punishment of organized crime, the appendix includes China's criminal provisions for punishing organized crime of triad nature, relevant judicial interpretations and legislative interpretations, the "United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime," and the decision of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress to approve China's accession to the convention.
