It serves as a garden for scholars and practitioners to contribute their expertise, a forum for intellectual debate, and a platform for "meeting like-minded individuals through writing." Its purpose is to:'s reform and opening-up and the establishment of a socialist market economy system, learn from advanced legislative experiences and new research findings abroad, conduct in-depth research and exploration of important legal issues in various fields of international economic relations, promote domestic and international academic exchanges, advance the development of international economic law teaching and research in China, and provide a theoretical basis or practical reference for China's active participation in international economic legal practice, as well as China's foreign-related economic legislation, decision-making, and practical operations. To adapt to the evolving situation and with the approval of Peking University Press, it is now decided that starting from the 12th volume in 2005, the journal will be restructured and expanded to be published annually, with four issues per volume, each issue featuring selected manuscripts of approximately 350,000 words. This volume is the 12th issue, the first issue, and includes 7 columns: World Trade Organization Law, International Trade Law, International Financial Law, International Maritime Law, International Tax Law, International Economic Dispute Resolution Law, and Association Development Dynamics.
