Features: Discrete mathematics is one of the important foundational theories in computer science. It is also a core course for cultivating students' rigorous thinking and enhancing their overall quality. In the teaching of discrete mathematics, problem-solving methods play a special role in helping students develop comprehensive analysis skills and the ability to connect theory with practice. In the problem-solving methods of discrete mathematics, in addition to applying common methods such as deduction, analysis, enumeration, and induction, modern mathematical methods like proof by contradiction, reductio ad absurdum, correspondence, and construction are often employed. The purpose of writing this book is to provide guidance on problem-solving methods for readers studying discrete mathematics, as well as reference solutions for those self-studying the subject after completing exercises. The book is organized by chapter, with each chapter divided into three parts: The first part is theory, which summarizes the corresponding chapter of discrete mathematics and outlines the scope for solving exercises, serving as a detailed review outline. The second part is selected examples with solutions, primarily offering analysis of problem-solving methods, hoping readers can generalize and apply their knowledge. The third part is exercises and solutions, including all the exercises from the book Discrete Mathematics (Shanghai Scientific and Technical Documents Publishing House), as well as additional newly added knowledge and practical exercises. The book includes 81 selected example problems and 647 exercises in total. This book is only a teaching reference material. Readers must first study the course and complete assignments independently before referring to the solutions, as this will lead to a deeper understanding and achieve twice the result with half the effort.
