How can phimosis be treated

Patient's question:

Recently, my glans has been a bit itchy, but upon closer inspection, there's nothing growing on the glans. What kind of condition is this? How should it be treated? What's the best way to treat glans itching?

Doctor's answer:

When the glans penis exhibits abnormal symptoms again, such as itching, redness, swelling, or burning, it can be considered as caused by an inflammatory infection. Currently, balanitis is a very common disease in urology, and its causes can mainly be divided into the following two categories:
The burning sensation in the glans penis is often caused by phimosis or excessive prepuce. The accumulation of secretions in the prepuce due to phimosis or excessive prepuce forms smegma. Bacteria, smegma, and urine irritation, or in rare cases, mechanical injury, often cause the prepuce to become red and swollen, with yellowish discharge. When the prepuce is retracted, the entire glans penis also appears red and swollen. This is a typical case of acute balanoposthitis.
