What are the common hazards of balanitis?

Patient's question:

Feeling very uncomfortable in the private area, that feeling can't be described, it affects work and life very much, it's very troublesome. I wonder what are the usual hazards of balanitis?

Doctor's answer:

Balanitis in its early stages, in mild cases, may only present with redness of the glans penis and inner foreskin, accompanied by itching. In severe cases, pain and tenderness may reappear. In later stages, superficial ulcers may develop on the inner foreskin, with yellowish or cheesy discharge, often accompanied by a foul odor. Significant local redness and swelling can affect urination and cause dysuria. Balanitis can be completely prevented through good hygiene practices. Regular attention to maintaining good hygiene habits, as well as undergoing circumcision for those with phimosis (where the foreskin cannot be retracted), can all effectively prevent balanitis.
