Features: About the 1st Edition of this book: This book is not only suitable for engineers in the fields of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and related industries, but also for students in the electrical machinery engineering field who are interested in EMC. The application software listed in this book are very useful for both professionals and students. —Excerpted from the Comprehensive Technology magazine About the 2nd Edition of this book: This edition has been completely revised, and the references listed have been significantly supplemented. This edition provides a comprehensive discussion covering EMC design, problem-solving, and EMC performance indicators in electrical equipment/systems. This includes fundamental theories, applications, evaluation, prediction techniques, and various economical and practical diagnostic options for avoiding electromagnetic interference. This edition also includes updated and verified EMC diagnostic measurement data, as well as more than 900 figures and 500 formulas that greatly exceed those in the 1st edition. It also discusses the latest verification/qualification test procedures. Additionally, it addresses the inaccuracy in current EMC testing and prediction methods. A new chapter on "Good PCB Layout Techniques" has been added to this edition, and it also describes the basic methods of computational electromagnetic modeling and other related new technologies. Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is an interdisciplinary field that integrates theoretical and practical knowledge from many disciplines. The highlight of this book is its focus on the practical applications and design of EMC technology, with appropriate elaboration on the fundamental principles. Given that the authors are renowned EMC consultants from the U.S. and Canada with extensive practical experience, the book is primarily oriented toward engineering practice, using a wealth of valuable experimental data, figures, curves, case studies, and practical technical details to illustrate the principles and applications of EMC technology. It provides detailed descriptions of specific testing methods for various EMC standards and ensures the accuracy of measurements. It also comprehensively introduces the procedures that electrical and electronic products must follow to comply with EMC directives and FCC regulations in Europe and the U.S., making it highly practical. The main contents of this book include the basic concepts and principles of EMC, the mechanisms and models of various electromagnetic interference, methods to reduce interference and improve immunity, the biological effects of electromagnetic fields, system EMC and antenna coupling analysis, EMC prediction and computational electromagnetic modeling methods, as well as the control requirements and testing methods of various civilian and military EMC standards. The book is presented from an engineering application perspective, with clear discussions, abundant illustrations, and detailed, practical content, making it an excellent reference. This book is suitable for technical personnel engaged in the R&D, design, manufacturing, quality management, testing, and maintenance of electrical and electronic products. It can also serve as a reference for technical personnel in research institutions, testing agencies, and large-scale engineering projects for EMC analysis, testing, and practical applications. Additionally, it can be used as a teaching reference for students and faculty in electrical and electronic engineering, information and computer technology, biomedical engineering, automatic control and mechatronics, and instrumentation and testing technology.
