Features: The material and writing of this book reflect the two characteristics of Java's object-oriented programming and network programming. It is based on meeting the needs of a wide range of Java beginners for entry-level and improvement, as well as the needs of mastering Java for practical purposes. At the same time, it considers the needs of Java programming for IT international certification exams. The textbook progresses from simple to complex, avoiding the introduction of too many technical terms at the beginning to reduce the learning difficulties for programming beginners. The entire book is divided into twelve chapters. Chapters ~ 8 introduce general knowledge of computer languages, basic knowledge of Java development environments, the basics of the Java language, object-oriented programming in Java, exception handling, basic reusable classes in Java, applet classes, and graphical user interfaces. These contents can meet the basic requirements for developing interactive web pages using Java. Chapters 9~11 introduce the use of other reusable classes that reflect the characteristics of Java: multithreaded programming, Java's connection with databases—JDBC technology, and the basics of network programming. Finally, Chapter 12 further introduces the use of the visual integrated development environment JBuilder6 through typical comprehensive application examples. This book can be used as a textbook for undergraduate, vocational, and technical college computer majors, as well as related majors, for language programming or basic network programming courses. It can also serve as a self-study reference book for application developers.
