Will uterine fibroids transform into cancer

Patient's question:

I recently had a health check-up implemented for female employees in my company. I was found to have uterine fibroids during the thorough examination, and now I'm a bit worried. I'd like to ask, could uterine fibroids recur with malignant transformation?

Doctor's answer:

Uterine fibroids are a relatively common gynecological disease. The vast majority of them are benign tumors, and there is a possibility of them becoming malignant again, but this probability is relatively small. Moreover, malignant transformation usually occurs in patients who are older in age.
Generally, for patients with uterine fibroids, if the tumor is small, treatment may not be necessary at first. Regular prenatal examinations can be conducted to monitor the condition. If the uterine fibroid is larger than 5 centimeters, surgical treatment is usually recommended.
In daily diet, it is best to avoid foods or supplements that contain estrogen.
