Features: The first five chapters of this book take the widely used MCS-51 series microcontroller as the object to introduce the hardware, software, and applications of microcomputers. Chapter 1 covers the basic concepts of microcomputers; Chapters 2 to 5 respectively elaborate on the hardware structure, instruction set, assembly language programming, system expansion, interfaces, and applications of the MCS-51 series microcontroller; Chapter 6 discusses the CMS-96 series microcontroller and briefly introduces the advanced 196 series, providing readers with self-study material. Building on the foundation of microcontrollers, considering the demand of a broad readership for PCs (general-purpose microcomputers) in addition to specialized microcomputers, the seventh chapter was added starting from the third edition to introduce the basic content of the 8086 CPU and PCs, as well as a concise overview of the technical advancements of the new Pentium CPUs and PCs. This book can be used as a textbook for technical foundation courses "Microcomputer Principles and Applications" or subsequent courses "Microcontroller Principles" in higher education institutions. The microcontroller section of the book is specific and practical, with particular emphasis on interfaces, applications, system composition, and application program development. During the writing process, special attention was paid to making the book suitable for science and technology personnel in industrial and mining enterprises. With the addition of the seventh chapter, the applicability of the book as a textbook has been further expanded, and it is expected to increase the interest of readers in industrial and mining enterprises.
