Features: The National Computer Rank Examination (NCRE) is a computer application ability level test aimed at the public. Since its inception in 1994, the exam has continuously developed, with the number of candidates increasing year by year. By October 2003, the cumulative number of candidates had exceeded 10 million, and the cumulative number of certified individuals was nearly 3 million. This exam has met societal needs in promoting the popularization of computer knowledge and the dissemination of computer application technology, as well as in assessing employees' computer proficiency for employers. It has made significant contributions to vocational and technical education and continuing education in the country. The success of this exam today is the result of strong support from all industries and the collective efforts of examiners. As is well known, the development of computer knowledge and technology is advancing at an unprecedented pace. To keep pace with technological advancements and changes in societal demands, especially in the face of challenges and opportunities following China's entry into the WTO, the NCRE exam must undergo reform and actively adapt to new developmental needs to better serve society. Recently, the Ministry of Education National Testing Center has made certain adjustments to the exam subjects, assessment content, and exam format of the NCRE, while also introducing the new 2004 edition of the "Exam Syllabus." This syllabus is intended for pilot exams of newly added subjects in 2004 and for the nationwide official exams starting in 2005. Old subjects during the transition period will still refer to the 2002 edition of the "Exam Syllabus."
