Is there any way in the early stage of balanitis?

Patient's question:

Hello! I have found patches on my glans with different colors, and there is a ring of white substance around the edge of the glans that cannot be washed off. Is this condition caused by balanitis? If it is balanitis, could you please tell me what methods are available in the early stages?

Doctor's answer:

Recurrent balanitis can be caused by the transmission of pathogens during sexual activity or by excessive foreskin. Infections with Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, E. coli, Candida albicans, Trichomonas, Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, fungi, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, or other bacteria during sexual activity can all lead to it. Alternatively, if the foreskin is too long and not cleaned properly, dirty substances between the foreskin and the glans, known as smegma, can accumulate and irritate the local foreskin and mucosa, causing inflammation again. Different causes require different treatments. It is recommended that you and your sexual partner undergo a thorough examination to identify the specific cause and receive early treatment.
