Features: In the training of visual language, we typically start with sketching and color rendering to understand the general principles of visual language through the reproduction of objective forms. However, to enter the field of design, we also need to rely on subjective perception to recognize and organize formal patterns. This type of training is often conducted through pattern design. By subjectively altering shapes and arranging their positions to create order, we develop a subjective pattern language beyond nature. This is an effective means of sharpening subjective form perception. When designing a pattern, in addition to understanding general principles of formal beauty, we must also learn to examine the work from a professional perspective. First, the individual unit graphic must be aesthetically pleasing. Next, the overall aesthetic of the larger graphic formed by connecting several individual patterns should be considered. Second, the background, or negative space, left by the main graphic must also be aesthetically pleasing. Only when these three elements are harmoniously beautiful can the designed pattern be considered successful. In terms of color usage, attention should be paid to the overall tone, with variations possible within analogous colors. Minimal compensation is needed for contrasting colors, and excessive decoration must be avoided. The above are key points to consider when creating a pattern, worth emphasizing and mastering. Pattern design can be seen as a means of understanding visual principles, and it is not the ultimate goal. Rather, it provides a skillful foundation to support future design thinking.
