Features: In response to the requirements of non-English major candidates for the 2007 National Postgraduate Entrance Unified Examination, we organized experts and professors to meticulously compile this "2007 National Postgraduate Entrance Unified Examination · Postgraduate English Examination Syllabus Vocabulary Usage Handbook" based on the terms of the Ministry of Education's syllabus. The book highlights the following features during the compilation process:
1. The book provides detailed Chinese definitions and phonetic transcriptions for the vocabulary in the syllabus. Candidates should pay special attention to the less common meanings of familiar words. For example, the word "act" must be familiar with its meaning of "law" in addition to "action" or "behavior." If you only know these meanings, it is not enough. The less common meaning of "late" as "deceased" has appeared in the reading comprehension section of the postgraduate entrance exam. If you lose 2 points due to not understanding this meaning, it would be a great pity.
2. Synonyms are categorized for corresponding memory, helping candidates to learn by analogy and understand broader concepts.
3. A large number of phrases that are not included in the syllabus but are essential for the postgraduate entrance exam are listed. Failing to recognize these phrases can directly affect your performance. Additionally, this revision no longer includes words beyond the syllabus to reduce candidates' burden. Since the syllabus does not provide Chinese definitions, it means that multiple meanings of words and related phrases may be involved. Therefore, candidates are required to memorize every syllabus word comprehensively and accurately, rather than knowing only one aspect. In light of this, the compilers, with the aim of solving candidates' practical problems, have explained the syllabus vocabulary as precisely as possible, covering the meanings that candidates should master in the postgraduate entrance exam without being overly comprehensive, thereby genuinely alleviating their burden.
Lastly, this concise and portable edition has a significant advantage: it allows candidates to utilize spare and fragmented time for review, facilitating reinforcement of memory, mastery, and application. We sincerely thank the candidates who provided positive support and valuable feedback for the book last year, and we welcome all candidates to continue to offer criticism and corrections.
