How to treat prostatic cyst well

Patient's question:

I am a college student. Besides classes, I usually enjoy playing computer games in my dormitory. I spend a lot of time sitting, and I also lack exercise. Recently, I've noticed that I can't urinate cleanly when I go to the bathroom, and there's also white discharge coming out. After doing some research, I found it might be prostatitis. I'm still so young. How should prostatic cysts be treated effectively?

Doctor's answer:

Prostatic cysts are caused by cystic changes in the prostate gland due to congenital or acquired reasons. Congenital cysts result from incomplete atrophy of the (Wolffian ducts), which fuse at the midline and form a deep diverticulum or cyst below the bladder, opening posteriorly into the prostatic urethra. Smaller, asymptomatic cysts may not require treatment, while larger cysts or symptomatic smaller cysts can be treated surgically. Surgical approaches include transvesical, extravesical, transperineal, transrectal, and others. Poor exposure often leads to incomplete cyst removal, resulting in high recurrence rates and frequent complications. For cysts near the perineum, transperineal surgery carries a risk of erectile dysfunction (ED) and should be used cautiously in young patients. Prostatic cysts can be cured, but the treatment period is generally long, and recurrence is common after treatment.
