Over the past three years, this textbook has been widely used by clinical medicine majors and teachers from numerous medical colleges across the country. From the survey conducted before the revision, it received unanimous praise. It has not only become a valuable resource for students to successfully pass the Assistant Practitioner Qualification Examination but has also played a significant role in helping them complete clinical diagnosis, prevention, health care, and rehabilitation tasks in primary medical care settings. To adapt to the rapid update and development of medical knowledge, the Clinical Medicine Specialty Textbook Evaluation Committee decided to revise the fourth edition of the textbooks. At the evaluation committee and chief editor meeting held in Beijing in December 2002, with the goal of holistic optimization, a thorough discussion was conducted on each textbook. Medical Psychology should be integrated into the overall teaching process rather than treated as a standalone course. Therefore, during the writing process of this edition, the principles of ideological significance, scientific rigor, advanced content, applicability, and heuristic value were well reflected. It emphasizes fundamental theories, basic knowledge, and essential skills, while also focusing on the connection with other basic medical and clinical medical disciplines. Special emphasis was placed on the writing of overlapping sections with other textbooks, ensuring both interdisciplinary integration and distinct characteristics to achieve comprehensive understanding.
