In Modillo's comics, the role of desire in a person's body is the same as its role in real life—it is dominant. In his works, some basic scenes recur repeatedly. First, a person tries to conquer a member of the opposite sex; second, a person resorts to various methods to eliminate another person. Modillo only needs two characters, who are actually very similar: a man and a woman. They both have the same round bellies and potato-shaped noses. However, using such noses as the breasts of a female character is Modillo's original creation. Additionally, his ideas are distinctive. Over the years, humorists worldwide have agreed that the theme of "island" has become exhausted. But Modillo always manages to create something fresh. The same applies to the theme of giraffes—over the past years, the long necks of giraffes seem to have been fully exploited by humorists.
