Features: This book is divided into five parts.
Part 1: Five Small Frames of Tai Chi. This is a Tai Chi practice method that has been (circulated) among the people in Yongnian, Hebei, the hometown of Tai Chi. It has strong combat and defense implications. It acts like a magnifying glass, highlighting certain movements of Tai Chi. Regular practice can enhance basic Tai Chi skills and combat awareness.
Part 2: Tai Chi Pushing Hands. Tai Chi pushing hands is relatively common, but the methods practiced in different regions are not entirely consistent. This book lists some of these methods. Due to space limitations, more methods cannot be included, and readers are encouraged to apply what they have learned to other situations. The same applies to the other parts.
Part 3: Tai Chi Sparring Methods. When you intercept an opponent's energy and become entangled with them, various offensive and defensive tactics can arise. Tai Chi sparring methods are designed to train such offensive and defensive skills.
Part 4: Tai Chi Grasping Methods. Tai Chi excels in close combat. It is best to engage in combat and defense after getting close to the opponent. Therefore, grasping energy is crucial for Tai Chi's offensive and defensive techniques. Without the ability to grasp energy, Tai Chi's offensive and defensive skills cannot be effectively utilized. The first four parts are primarily illustrated with diagrams, accompanied by action descriptions and couplets for easy reference and practice.
Part 5: Tai Chi Principles. As an appendix to this book, it can deepen the understanding of the illustrated parts. By the way, when people mention Tai Chi today, they often specify which school it belongs to. In reality, the formation of schools came later. In Yongnian, early Tai Chi did not have different schools. Therefore, this book does not emphasize any particular school. If classified according to current standards, the "Tai Chi Combat Techniques" in this book include both Yang-style and Wu-style methods.
