Features: This book is compiled based on the author's doctoral dissertation. Due to the substantial research material as its foundation, especially with the help of newly discovered materials, the author offers many unique insights in the specific discussions. For instance, when examining and researching the role system of the Jia Ban (private opera troupes), the author combines it with the staffing arrangements of Jia Ling (private opera performers), thereby summarizing the distinct characteristics of the Jia Ban role system compared to professional opera troupes in terms of their structural forms. Additionally, through a detailed arrangement and examination of historical records, the author summarizes some features of the performance repertoires of Jia Ban during the Ming and Qing dynasties and analyzes their underlying reasons. Furthermore, the author integrates the successful operational experiences of Jia Ban during the Ming and Qing dynasties with the modern dissemination of traditional opera, proposing several recommendations. These insights, compared to previous similar works, demonstrate a certain degree of innovation. The innovation in historical materials and perspectives also constitutes the academic value of this work.
