Features: This book primarily introduces five commonly used, free-to-download chemical professional computer software available online: ChemSketch 5.0, Diamond, ChemWindows, MSViewer, and ChemLab. The common feature of these software developments is to address the representation of information and the prediction of molecular structure parameters in the dissemination of chemical knowledge and chemical education. The textbook is structured according to the learning process of computer software, progressing from the structure of the software to its functions, and then from its functions to specific applications. Typical cases are used to illustrate the practical applications and operations of each software in chemical education, and readers are trained in-depth and step-by-step through classic cases to improve their mastery of the technology.
1. ChemSketch 5.0, a software for inputting chemical plane symbols. It primarily solves the construction and expression of chemical symbols, reaction equations, orbital reaction equations, and structural formulas in common chemical papers, test papers, and plane chemical teaching presentations in organic and biochemistry. It also provides functions for representing three-dimensional spatial structures and constructing chemical experimental setups.
2. Diamond, software for creating and representing crystal and material structures. It is mainly used for constructing and drawing crystal structures.
3. ChemWindows, a commonly used chemical professional software, primarily solves the input of molecules and macromolecules in inorganic, organic, and biochemistry. It provides simple three-dimensional spatial structure representation and construction of chemical experimental setups.
4. MSViewer, a commonly used software for constructing and representing three-dimensional chemical spatial structures. It is mainly used for the spatial representation of organic polymers, bio macromolecules, and various amino acids and proteins.
5. ChemLab, a virtual chemistry laboratory. It is a multimedia chemical game learning software with simulation experiment functions, allowing users to operate various instruments and equipment as if they were in a real laboratory to conduct various preset experiments. Users can also design their own experiments using the experimental platform provided by the software.
The book also introduces practical knowledge of information resource exchange and sharing between the aforementioned software.
