New Yorker Comics (Children's Edition) (Children's Edition)

Author: Robert Mankoff
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2003-04-01
Features: Parents might all wish that children came into the world with an instruction manual, just like a newly bought computer. True, that would make things much easier. Unfortunately, both worries and joys go hand in hand. Anyway, these little ones, while causing us trouble, also let us experience the rich joys of life. We somewhat helplessly form a partnership with them, watching them bump around our lives, unable to change their passion for growing up, just like the scenes depicted in this book.

Thanks to the cartoonists of The New Yorker magazine (rumor has it that several of them never truly grew up), with their magical brushes, they amusingly guide us from the hospital delivery room and the days of learning to walk all the way into school and the long journey of adulthood (and don’t forget, even after growing up, we are still our parents’ children). These cartoons were selected by cartoon editor Robert Mankoff of The New Yorker magazine, totaling 126 pieces, with contributions from artists such as George Booth, Roz Chast, Leo Cullum, William Hamilton, John Wilson, and Jack Ziegler. Upon reflection, this book is truly a rather wonderful portrayal of our childhood.
