Features: The three-volume set of "College Literature Reader" (hereinafter referred to as "Reader") we have launched attempts in this regard. The term "literature reader" here refers to the prescribed reading materials for Chinese departments and the teaching materials of "College Chinese": although there is some overlap in content and function, compared to the latter two, it more strongly emphasizes the breadth of the literary subject and the multiple possibilities of writing, reflecting a broad perspective. One of the important principles of its selection is how literature, under the same or similar themes, carries out highly meaningful personalized creation, as well as the contradictory and unified relationship between these individual creations and classics and non-classics. The compilation of the "Reader" is mainly intended for readers interested in the three dimensions of "Literature and History," "Literature and Ethnicity," and "Literature and Reality." These three dimensions are actually the three cultural motifs of literature, with about ten thematic patterns under each motif. They are relatively independent, with each theme being a colorful poetic world; but when combined, they form an organic artistic whole, intrinsically permeated with the following common compilation concepts.
