What causes epididymitis?

Patient's question:

I am 26 years old, and I recently had a urological health check-up. It was found that I have early epididymitis. At that time, I also felt a bit uncomfortable in my private area but didn't pay attention. I want to ask what causes epididymitis?

Doctor's answer:

Orchitis is usually caused by bacteria and viruses. The testicles themselves rarely suffer from bacterial infections because they have a rich supply of blood and lymph fluid, making them highly resistant to bacterial infections. Most cases of bacterial orchitis are caused by inflammation of the adjacent epididymis, hence it is also known as epididymo-orchitis.
In traditional Chinese medicine, acute orchitis is generally treated using a syndrome differentiation approach. Experts explain that in traditional Chinese medicine, the treatment of acute orchitis involves differentiating between syndromes. One type is acute orchitis with damp-heat diffusing downward: symptoms include fever, chills, testicular swelling and pain, hard stools, dark yellow and turbid urine, dry stools, red and greasy tongue coating, and wiry, slippery, and rapid pulse. The treatment focuses on clearing damp-heat, detoxifying, and resolving abscesses.
