What are the common causes of prostatic cysts?

Patient's question:

I discovered a prostatic cyst during my recent ultrasound examination, but it is not very large and has not been found to affect my life. In my case, what are the common causes of prostatic cysts?

Doctor's answer:

Congenital Prostatic Cyst Congenital cysts are due to incomplete atrophy of the mesonephric ducts, fusing at the midline, forming a deep diverticulum or cyst at the lower bladder, opening posteriorly into the prostatic urethra. Congenital cysts are also known as prostatic diverticula, resulting from incomplete atrophy of the paramesonephric ducts, fusing at the midline, forming a deep diverticulum or cyst near the midline of the lower bladder, opening posteriorly into the prostatic urethra. Congenital prostatic cysts are often associated with congenital diseases such as hypospadias, cryptorchidism, and renal agenesis.
Acquired Prostatic Cyst: Caused by fibrous prostatic stroma leading to incomplete or intermittent obstruction of the acini, gradually thickening the acinar epithelium, ultimately resulting in retention cysts. These include parasitic cysts, inflammatory retention cysts, and cysts formed by degenerative changes of prostatic cancer.
