It was rewritten according to the College French Teaching Syllabus (Second Edition) and is a set of college French textbooks with strong practicality and contemporary characteristics. It is now listed by the Ministry of Education as a "National Higher Education 'Fifteen-Year' Planning Textbook." The outstanding features of this series of textbooks are as follows:
1. The textbook system and content have shifted from knowledge-based to ability-based, focusing on strengthening the cultivation of students' comprehensive French proficiency to meet the needs of reform and opening-up. For example, each unit in Volume 1 and Volume 2 has been enhanced with conversation sections; the exercises are rich and diverse, designed to develop students' language skills and communication abilities.
2. Fully leverage students' learning initiative and mobilize their subjective enthusiasm. For instance, pronunciation teaching has been strengthened, grammar and vocabulary exercises have been reinforced, and the selected texts are vivid, easy to memorize, and easy to practice, while also reflecting a modern atmosphere and keeping pace with the global trends of today's world.
3. To enhance students' cultural literacy, the series has strengthened the introduction of French and Francophone cultures. For example, cultural background knowledge has been compiled, and materials such as poems, proverbs, humorous stories, famous quotes, Paris Metro maps, and Paris travel maps have been included.
4. To meet societal needs, this series of textbooks is closely related to current French language exams. Such as the College French Level 4 Exam, the National Unified Examination for Master's Degree Applicants with Equivalent Academic Qualifications in French, the Civil Service Personnel Professional Title Examination by the Ministry of Personnel, and the French TEF Exam.
5. To facilitate teaching and self-study, this series also includes a teaching reference book, which contains instructions for using the textbook, translations of texts and reading materials, and exercise answers. The series is also accompanied by teaching audio cassettes.
