What should be done about neonatal enuresis?

Patient's question:

Baby has been born for two weeks. Since it is formula-fed, the stool has been very dry. Initially, it was eating HiPP, but hasn't had a bowel movement in 1.5 days. Now switched to a different formula. The first week was relatively normal, with one bowel movement per day. Recently, it hasn't had a bowel movement all day. I have already added water and carrot juice between two formula feedings, but there hasn't been any improvement.

Doctor's answer:

No matter what formula milk is consumed, it is easy to have constipation. Parents should not frequently change the formula milk, but should adjust their dietary habits. Newborns' gastrointestinal tracts are not particularly mature, and if any changes occur, the probability of gastrointestinal dysfunction is very high, which may lead to irregular bowel movements or even constipation. It is beneficial to regularly massage the child's abdomen to promote intestinal movement and aid in defecation.
