Features: Correctly diagnosing arrhythmias is crucial for selecting appropriate treatment methods. If a diagnostic error occurs, it can lead to incorrect treatment. Recently applied implantable electrocardiogram recording devices can record ECG changes when symptoms appear, providing significant help for diagnosis. However, for many patients, proper medical history taking also plays a great role in determining the diagnosis. After the diagnosis is established, it is necessary to further identify the cause or trigger of the arrhythmia, during which a new disease may be discovered. Once the cause is identified, the first step should be etiological treatment. For example, in patients with atrial fibrillation caused by hyperthyroidism, using antiarrhythmic drugs alone not only yields poor results but also increases the risk of side effects due to increased dosage. In patients with coronary heart disease, ventricular arrhythmias may occur during angina attacks. The priority should be to improve myocardial ischemia rather than using antiarrhythmic drugs as the first choice. Based on the experience from CAST, Na+ channel blockers should not be used as prophylactic medications.
