Patient's question:
I have had varicocele for a while, and the symptoms have become increasingly severe recently. I also feel pain in the groin area, and the testicle feels like there are worms coiled on it when touched. I've heard that this condition can affect fertility. I've been married for over a year and am very concerned. Could you please advise on how to treat varicocele?Doctor's answer:
Varicose veins, also known as the most common disease of the venous system, are primarily caused by congenital weakness of the vascular wall membrane or prolonged maintenance of the same posture with little change, leading to blood accumulation in the lower limbs. Over time, this can damage venous valves and result in high venous pressure, manifesting as symptoms of vascular weakness on the skin surface. Varicose veins most commonly occur in the lower limbs, but can also occur in other areas such as the scrotum, spermatic cord, abdominal veins, and esophageal veins. To prevent varicose veins caused by prolonged standing or sitting, walking can utilize the pumping action of the calf muscles to enhance venous return, thereby elevating the lower limbs and alleviating symptoms such as edema.
