Chapter My View on Treatment
Long ago, we realized the connection between the mind, spirit, and body and its impact on health. The belief that excessive grief could "kill" a person, unrequited love could make someone "emaciated and frail," fear could "terrify" someone to death, and rage could "make someone sick" was always taken for granted. After the rise of the germ theory in the 19th century, it suggested that all diseases and deaths throughout history were caused by bacteria. Consequently, the understanding of the link between emotions and health was relatively ignored.
Today, medicine has advanced to the point where it can eliminate the adverse reactions caused by bacteria through injections, medications, and improved hygiene. However, biochemical drugs cannot truly cure a person's illness or fully regenerate damaged tissues. The long-term consequence of treating symptoms rather than the root cause has led to the continuous degeneration of human cells, making the body worse than it was before falling ill.
